Houston Dearn O’Connor provides legal services to Local Government and the people of Sydney. We opened our doors in Burwood NSW in 1966 and have continuously operated since then. We took on our first Local Government client in the early 1980s. We now act for 10 Local Councils in Sydney and regional NSW.
Our firm is headed up by two Principals, Tim O’Connor and Steven Shneider. Each has a wealth of experience in acting for Local Government and private clients.
Our specialty areas of practice are Local Government Law and Environmental Planning Law with the firm having panel arrangements with 10 Councils across Sydney and regional NSW and acting in the field for private developers and others who find themselves in dispute with a Council*. We have acted in the field of Local Government and Planning since 1980 and it can be said that we have developed a reputation for professionalism, honesty, integrity and value for money representation. It is for this reason that many Local Councils choose to use our services.
In addition to Local Government and Planning Law, we act in the following fields: commercial law and litigation, criminal law, conveyancing and property law, wills and probate and family law.
Our Principals are skilled advocates who, in many instances, will provide Court representation without the need to brief Counsel. In-House advocacy can be provided across a range of areas with particular emphasis on hearings in the Land and Environment Court and hearings in the Local Court.
Our solicitors work hand in hand with our Principals so that the firm is one great team with a proven track record of producing desired results for our clients.
We provide personalized service with a one on one relationship with your solicitor and direct access to the Principals of the firm.
*Please note that due to contractual arrangements we might not be able to act for you against certain Local Councils. In the event that we cannot act, we shall let you know immediately.
